I hear you. I’ve never felt comfortable with office politics and felt that if I just work as hard as I possibly can and treat people well, I’ll succeed. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t quite work that way.

My favourite saying related to this is: “Just because you’re a vegetarian doesn’t mean a raging bull won’t charge you down”.

While I still don’t feel inclined to fully engage in office politics, I think it’s useful to be aware of the dark arts and dynamics at play. Even if it’s just to protect yourself.

That said, your home office setup and full time writing job sounds great!
