Very important topic and well addressed. Thank you for this, Niklas.
I've noticed this smart shaming trend develop alongside the GaryVee inspired hustle culture of the last decade or so.
The narrative goes like this: kids who didn't do well at school have now figured out how to succeed in life with pure grit and hard work, thereby proving that books are for arrogant, aloof academics.
Academic excellence is actually looked down upon by this Instagram entrepreneur generation. The message is: you'd be better off flipping action figures you bought at a garage sale and learning about business than reading a book- that's their mantra.
The truth often lies somewhere in between. Real world, practical experience is of paramount importance, sure. However, by smart shaming those who like to think things through and work smart, we're creating a culture of busy fools.
